Similar to a sleeping bag, baffles between the mats chambers eliminate cold spots and promote a stable and supportive air cushion.
The new ultralight fabrics are extremely lightweight yet robust. While the abrasion resistance is high, puncture resistance is lower than with the standard fabric.

"I would highly recommend the SynMat 7 UL sleeping mat to anybody who is looking to save weight and space in their pack, without compromising on a good nights sleep. It really takes up hardly any space in your bag, and actually rolls back into it's tiny packsack very easily when you're on the move! The 7cm thickness offers superb comfort and the synthetic fill gives enough warmth even in cold conditions. The lack of an integrated pump (as found on the regular synmats) makes it a little harder to inflate but it still doesn't take more than a minute or two at most - I feel that doubling this up with a 'pillow pump' would be the perfect solution!"
